The Spoilers, by Desmond Bagley

by Peter on May 1, 2010

Originally written in 1969, The Spoilers is still The Spoilers, by Desmond Bagley a wonderful read. It is very well researched, has great characters, and is very, very suspenseful. Desmond Bagley was one of England’s best thriller writers and a best-selling author world-wide at the time when he wrote his books, and it is easy to see why.

When a film tycoon, Sir Robert Hellier, loses his daughter to heroin, he declares war on the drug peddlers. London drug specialist, Nicholas Warren, a top British drug expert, is called in to organize an expedition to the Middle East in an attempt to track down the big-time dope runners, inveigle themselves into their confidence and make them an offer they can’t refuse. No expense is spared in the plans for their capture, but with a hundred million dollars worth of heroin at stake, the ‘spoilers’ must use methods as ruthless as their prey.

The Spoilers is very fast-paced, incredibly well written story full of suspense. A great thriller!

Praise for The Spoilers:

This is the first of Desmond Bagley’s books that I have read. It is one of the best written books I have ever read and it made me read a whole host of his books. – A Customer, amazon UK
